
Sport description
The Freshwater Fly event will take place at Killylane Reservoir
which is a lake stocked with brown trout. The 5th August event will
be a two person team event and the 6th August Event will be an
individual event. Both events are catch and release, with the total
weight of fish caught counting towards the medal positions.
The Sea Angling Event at Longfield, Eglington will be a shore
fishing event where all anglers will fish from below a sea wall
into Lough Foyle. There is an individual event and a team event run
on the same day; all fish caught will be measured and then
released. The individual score will count towards the team event as
well.

Freshwater Fly

Freshwater Fly will take place at Killylane Reservoir. The
reservoir is situated on open moorland with conifers around the
lake providing good shelter.

Sea Angling

Sea Angling will take place at the sea wall in Longfield,
Eglington. Anglers will fish from the Lough Foyle, a lough that
opens onto the Atlantic Ocean and forms part of the boundary
between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland offering with
spectacular views of Donegal.

FAQs
What equipment should I bring?
Anglers are advised to bring a retracting travel rod which will be
ideal for packing, as well as a reel containing a line
approximately 16lbs/18lbs in strength. Coloured beads and
reflectors in the rigs will attract fish.
What bait will be used?
Bait packs will be provided for all anglers. Bait will be strips
of mackerel, lugworms and peeler crab. Don't forget bait elastic
for tying.
What species of fish will I catch?
The venue will be a mixture of sand, mud and shingle. All
types of flatfish will be popular along with eels and dogfish.
