Orienteering - Sprint Distance, Middle Distance & Long Distance

Sport description

There will be three separate orienteering events: Sprint Distance around Belfast City Centre, Middle Distance at Queens's University playing fields and adjacent Barnett Demesne park and Long Distance in the Mourne Mountains at Tollymore Forest Park.

Sprint Distance - Custom House Square

CHS
The Athletes' Village will be held at Custom House Square, Belfast. Following a £4 million investment, the Square is enhanced with attractive lighting, a water feature that traces the course of the River Farset, and a children's play area making it an ideal venue for a host of outdoor concerts and festivals.

Middle Distance - Queen's Playing Fields and Barnett Demesne Park

Barnett Demense 
With a £20m investment, Queen's Sport Upper Malone has been transformed into a world-class centre. State-of-the-art floodlit grass and synthetic playing surfaces make it the perfect playing field.
Barnett Demesne Park is located in south Belfast with acres of magnificent parkland commanding stunning views over Lagan Valley and the Belfast hills.

Long Distance - Tollymore National Outdoor Centre

Tollymore
The Tollymore National Outdoor Centre is one of the best purpose built adventure sports facilities in the UK and Ireland. It is located on the northern edge of the Mourne Mountains, facilitating rock climbing, hill walking, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, mountaineering and orienteering. The centre includes ensuite accommodation and other facilities, making it an ideal location for those who enjoy the outdoors.
